LAKMA (Los Angeles Korean-American Musicians Association) "We are people helping people through music" 라크마 2019년 12월 메시야 공연 한길교회 Christmas Family Night 2019 LAKMA Choir & Orchestra with Scholarship Winners Sunday December 8, 2019 The Way Church Hyun Jeong Lee graduated from the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music with a certificate in piano performance in May 2018. From 2011-2014, she studied at Mozarteum University, Salzburg, Austria, where she graduated with honors. She has performed as a soloist in Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Korea, Estonia and the United States. And she has performed with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra as well as with numerous orchestras in Europe. Hyun Jeong Lee was the winner of the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition in 2016, and a Taranto piano competition finalist in Italy in 2014. Hyun Jeong Lee is especially inspired at the time of this Christmas family concert because it reminds her of Mozart and the winters in Salzburg, Austria, where she studied for so many years. She frequently visited Mozart's birthplace. Mozart's room was a little dark and creepy and with no light at all from the window. A Cross hung on the wall. She was able to sense Mozart's deep feelings. In that dark room, she sensed that Mozart's feelings were enlightened by the Lord's sending of Jenamy to inspire Mozart to compose his Piano Concerto in E-flat major, K. 271 , when he was just 21. God sent someone to show him joy in some of the darkness of his life. Hyun Jeong Lee will perform that very Mozart's piano concerto with the hope that her music may also bring some light and some healing. http://www.thelakma.org

Puccini(1858-1924) LAKMA (Los Angeles Korean-American Musicians Association) "We are people helping people through music" 라크마 2019년 12월 메시야 공연 한길교회 Christmas Family Night 2019 LAKMA Choir & Orchestra with Scholarship Winners Sunday December 8, 2019 The Way Church Sunwoo Park is finishing the master's degree program at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, having completed her bachelor's degree at Seoul National IJniversity. She has performed extensively in the Los Angeles area in addition to multiple engagements at the Aspen Music Festival and Santa Fe Opera in operas such as Die Zauberflote, La Calisto, La Boheme, and Le nozze di Figaro. Sunwoo Park started singing nursery rhymes in elementary school. When she entered Yewon School, as a soprano, she twice won first prize at Yewon competitions and later graduated from Seoul Arts High School. She suffered disappointment in college applications. But she came to understand disappointments as messages from God, and so with Him she sang. And even more, when she failed, she learned how to overcome suffering and find comfort. Most of all, she says, she became better able to understand others' pain and to comfort them. The path for the musician is fraught with obstacles, and many of those obstacles are monetary. Sunwoo Park started as a soloist a small church in Orange County and has taken performances big and small to keep going. For her, this scholarship is important, and LAKMA is pleased and honored to be able to present this award. http://www.thelakma.org
